I purchased this for my granddaughter who is four and a half years old. She absolutely loves it. It comes with all the stamps to create a farm scene or horse corral or a day in the park. The stamps are sharp and crisp and easy to color in. I did purchase additional color pencils from a local art supply store as the ones supplied were not soft enough for coloring by a small hand. The ink is washable but will not come off clothing as easily and may take several washings to come out. She also likes when I hand draw roads and mountains and she just stamps in the rest.It comes with a wood storage box and everything fits in neatly including the additional pencils I purchased. This is a great product and she plays with it for hours.

The stamps themselves are great and really durable with wonderful detail. We were really happy to find the names of the types of dinosaurs on the sides of the box. It's also really nice that the colored pencils are already sharpened and ready for use. A minor complaint is that they didn't include a brown colored pencil though, as that is the one color we felt was most needed for coloring volcanos and dinosaurs. Another minor complaint is that the ink provided is red and blue... not exactly the earthy tones that you would want your dinosaurs to be. A major complaint, however, is that the ink box boasts that it is washable, but it is definitely NOT! My son was wearing one of his favorite shirts while stamping and got a lot of ink rubbed onto his shirt while working... I wasn't concerned about it, as the ink box claims it's washable. However, after three washings, and other treatments, the ink hadn't faded one bit, and I finally had to just throw his shirt away. The ink also wouldn't wash off his hands. It's a total lie that the ink pad is washable - be warned, throw the ink away, and buy ones that truly are washable, and perhaps also in earthy colors that are more suitable for dinosaurs too... Then you'll be able to enjoy these stamps.

My two older kids, ages 4 and 5, really enjoy playing with the two melissa and doug stamp sets we bought. The stamps are good quality, there are lots of them for the price, and there is a nice assortment of designs. More than two stamp pad colors would be nice but for this price I'm ok with it. The stamps are pretty gender neutral but the ink colors are not so maybe a green or brown would be better choices. I know girls usually are the ones to use stamps but boys like craft projects too. The colored pencils are not so great and I'm not sure why they are even included. The kids use their own colored pencils when they feel like coloring the stamps. The stamps come in a nice wooden box but there is no cover on the box which is a shame since it would be nice to be able to use the box and keep them organized rather than have put them in a shoe box.

The kids would be playing with this set several times a week if the ink was washable but it's not. It's not at all. It's as difficult to get out of clothing and hands as pen ink and requires scrubbing with a magic eraser to get it off the table. Washable markers wipe right off the same table with a damp rag. The kids don't care for coloring the stamp with a marker and like the stamp pads but they seldom get to use them because there is no time to cover the table with grocery bags or spend 20 minutes scrubbing ink off. I'm also very concerned they will drop a stamp on the carpet (all our tables have carpet under them) and I won't be able to get it out. It says something that the cleanup involved with school glue and markers is preferable to these. I had always thought of stamps as a 'clean' art project.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and loves this stamp set. Personally I think the pencil crayons are extraneous with this set, but I put them away for later. I also bought the inkpad with multiple colors so the stamps are a bit more interesting. She loves naming the animals, and stamping them together so they can "talk to each other". It's been fun to see how creative she can be!

This is a pretty big stamp pad and compared to other items out there, it's a great deal. I don't know where I'm going to find this, but I need BIG stamp pads! My kids got a lot of fun stamps for Christmas and I bought this hoping it would do the trick but it's still not big enough and my kids don't like how the colors blend when they are using their big stamps. My little boy would get a stamp on his hand after gym class. He always loved them. So last Christmas (2009) I ordered these, and decided to use them when he helped mommy out. He puts the silverware in the silvreware drawer, not in the right spot, he just throws it in there, but he is still helping! Then when he is done, he gets praise and a stamp on each hand, and even gets to pick out the animal. I think it is going to help teach him to do his chores! (hopefully) The stamps turn out ok, he usually smears it before it can dry. But maybe I put too much ink on the stamp. Lke others, a top would be nice, but I keep it on my fridge, so I don't worry about him getting into it, or it spilling. The stamps are the perfect size for little hands.

I really like Melissa and Doug Toys. This set is no different.

The stamps in this set look like the ones someone might buy at a more expensive stamp place. They are wooden. While they might have less details than some of the stamps made for the adult market; they have some details putting them a step above the other cheaper children's stamps you can buy.

The stamp pad is bright and colorful. It did not quickly dry out.

My daughter has enjoyed using her stamps when I have pulled mine out.
